It was a pleasure and honor to host Brad Smith, President of Microsoft at the European Parliament for a lunch discussion with MEPs. We have met several times and I remember very well our last meeting in Tallinn after Brad visited the VABAMU (Museum of Occupations). Brad spoke so highly and enthusiastically about Estonia and Estonians that I felt even more proud about my country. 🙂
Today we had an open and honest discussion about recent developments in cyber domain, Microsoft initiatives like Tech Accord and CyberPeace Institute, Microsoft’s input into safer and more stable cyberspace, and of course the recent book “Tools and Weapons: The Promise and The Peril of the Digital Age” that Brad co-authored with his colleague Carol Ann.
Brad is a true de facto Ambassador for the technology industry at large, according to The New York Times. He operates by a simple core belief: when your technology changes the world, you bear a responsibility to help address the world you have helped to change
